Spring Equinox
It’s spring in the northern hemisphere and the weather is constantly changing from wind to rain to sunshine. Spring is a transitional period, as temperatures rise nature reawakens yet some things have not survived the winter and will be left behind to die.
To Grieve an Ideal
To honor the death brought by winter and visualize the intangible process of letting go, I’ve laid out a clay graveyard. Two works that I made this winter were accidentally damaged by my careless handling. I put a lot work into these pieces but to be fair I’m not sure how much I liked the end results. Instead of going into salvage solution mode, I’ve decided to let them go and become a symbol of what once was. To grief the ideal I had for them, for myself and open room for something else, something better to come my way. I plan to document the slow decay of the clay as the environment around it changes and blooms.
“nature reawakens yet some things have not survived the winter and will be left behind to die.” I’ve been hearing that so much! Letting an ideal die. WOW 🫶🏾
